Floyd Mayweather Jr. did not announce his fight with Manny Pacquiao as rumored; however, the moment of seeing the $250 million megafight becoming a reality could happen in the coming days, according to Los Angeles Times boxing writer Lance Pugmire.

Contrary to a report posted by UK online newspaper Telegraph, there was no announcement coming from Mayweather about his fight with Pacquiao, as the Grand Rapids native stressed that neither he nor the Filipino boxing champ already signed a contract.

"I haven't signed yet and he hasn't signed yet," Mayweather said during a court-side interview at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game in New York.

Despite popping every boxing fans' dream of watching him fighting Pacquiao, Mayweather has cleared that he remains hopeful his showdown with Pacquiao will eventually happen on May 2.

"It's just been speculations and rumours," Mayweather added. "But I'm hopeful we can make the fight happen."

According to Pugmire, Mayweather's remark holds some truth as to the current situation of the negotiation between him and Pacquiao's camp. The LA Times boxing writer reported Mayweather wasn't expected to announce his fight with Pacquiao because there were still roadblocks to hurdle, such as the PPV sales sharing between HBO and Showtime Boxing. Nevertheless, Pugmire expects both camps to resolve the issue and an announcement of the fight will be made this week.

After exchanging barbs on social media platforms the past few years, Mayweather and Pacquiao are on the verge of finally hammering the richest fight in boxing history, which is estimated to be worth at least $250 million.

Mayweather, the holder of the WBA and WBC welterweight belts, is believed to be in the final year of his undefeated career. But instead of picking Amir Khan or Miguel Cotto, the American insisted that it's about time to settle his score with Pacquiao, who is considered by many analysts as the only boxer with the skills-set to break Money May's undefeated streak.
