Top five companies hiring interns in 2012

A recent survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), reveals that companies are planning to step up their intern hiring. The inquiry revealed that businesses are looking to boost internship hiring by 8.5% this year. In addition, employers indicated that around 58.6% of their interns from the 2011 class are becoming full-time staff, which is considered "an all-time high" by NACE.

The website Glassdoor.com lists the top 20 companies looking to take on more interns. Beginning with the top five companies,  Google comes in ranks first, it also took fifth place in Glassdoor's fourth annual Employees' Choice Awards list of "50 best places to work in 2012". Received a 4.3 rating out of a 5.0 from interns currently with the company, a current intern describes it as a "fun and rewarding place to work".

Microsoft takes second place getting a rating of 4.2 percent. According to one Microsoft intern, "The internship program is obviously designed to fix any problems before they occur. I had very clear project expectations, lots of positive feedback, great working conditions, and excellent compensation."

Coming up next is Qualcomm, a global telecommunication corporation based in San Diego. Earning a 4.2 rating, a current intern describes his experience with Qualcomm as the "best company to work with". MTV holds the next spot with a 4.1 rating. An intern presently with the company reveals that they love working for the network, but they "wish there was more room for mobility within the company."

State Farm, an auto insurance company, also received a 4.1 rating. The "average monthly base pay" is $2,377 for regular interns and $5,681 for graduate technical interns.  One current intern mentions that the company has a good commission package without "a monthly cap". In addition, the reveals that "If you work hard (well over 40 hours), there is a good chance of being promoted to the agent pool."
