Jack Dorsey Threats - ISIS may be looking to wage a virtual war after its supporters threatened Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and the company's employees because the social media platform shut down an account affiliated with the extremist group.
According to reports, the threats were anonymously made on an online post published on Sunday Pastebin. The message which was written in Arabic also featured an illustration of Dorsey in cross chairs.
"Your virtual war on us will cause a real war on you," the Jack Dorsey threat read according to a translation by Buzzfeed. It also read that Twitter employee have "become a target for the soldiers of the Caliphate and supporters scattered among your midst!"
As of Monday Twitter and law enforcement officials were still conducting an investigation into the threat to confirm it veracity.
"Our security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials," a Twitter spokesman said. Dorsey has not yet released a statement.
Although, unlike other social media platforms, Twitter has lax rules, the company's terms of service explicitly forbids "direct, specific threats of violence against others." It also suspends users who use the platform "for the unlawful purposes or furtherance of illegal activities."
ISIS constantly uses Twitter like other social media platforms to spread its messages and terror. The company frequently takes down ISIS affiliated accounts and quickly responds to reports of questionable activity - especially since reports have increased.
This is not the first time ISIS, the most wealthy terrorist organization in history, have threatened Twitter employees. In September threats were made, forcing Twitter to increase security at some of its offices also educate employees on being security conscious.
