Angie Stone was arrested Monday night for allegedly assaulting her own daughter named Diamond. The "No More Rain" singer defended herself from the accusation by saying that her daughter had punched her in the face prior to her retaliation.

According to TMZ, Angie Stone, who is famous for belting her hit songs like "Wish I Didn't Miss You," "I Wanna Thank Ya" and "Holding Back the Years," has unfortunately tainted her clean reputation when she was arrested in Lithonia, Georgia for claims that she domestically assaulted her 30-year-old daughter.

To defend herself, Stone told Dekalb County police that her daughter started it, noting that Diamond punched her in the face and that this prompted her to fight back by knocking a metal stand into her daughter's face.

Angie added that after realizing what she had done to her daughter, she tried to run away but Diamond was still on the heat of getting even, especially after her teeth got knocked out.

Authorities managed to track both women with the help of a family friend and while Diamond was immediately released, her mother was kept in jail.

Angie Stone was charged of aggravated assault while her daughter was not booked for retaliating her mother's attack.

CNN has learned that Diamond's side claims that Angie started the incident when she demanded that Diamond should clean up her room and asked her to control her kids, who were running half-naked around their house.

The singer's representatives have yet to respond to emails and calls for comment from the press.

While this may be the first time that Angie Stone was jailed for an attack, this is not the first time that her personal problems has made headlines.

She previously accused a "R&B Divas: Atlanta" crew member of cheating with her ex-boyfriend Ashanti, without any clear evidence.

Not only that, the crew member was apparently happily married for 20 years at the time of Angie's accusations.
