One Direction band member, Zayn Malik has decided to bow out on the band's world tour because of stress that was sparked by some personal issues. Malik's departure came amidst the drug test call in the Philippines, the Asian country that the band is set to perform this weekend.
One Direction fans have totally gone berserk after news circulated that Zayn Malik leaves the band in the midst of their "On the Road" world tour. According to E! News, a 1D representative confirmed the news that Malik is bailing out on their concert but the Asian leg of the tour continues with remaining band mates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.
"Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate," the band's rep stated. "The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta."
But though some 1D fans are freaking out about Zayn Malik's sudden departure, an insider exclusively spilled to Hollywood Life that his band mates "fully understand Zayn's desire" to drop their current concert tour.
"They were a little stunned at first, but realize it's for the best with everything he's going through with Perrie [Edwards] and the long-tour commitment, which really takes it out of you," the source said. "It's up to them now to carry the torch while Zayn does what he needs to do, and they're up for the challenge of becoming a four-piece, instead of 5."
"Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis are very supportive of Zayn's need to recuperate and get his life back on track," the insider continued. "They're like brothers, and will do anything they can to help."
As reported by the Daily Mail, Zayn Malik's decision to leave the One Direction world tour was part of an ultimatum his fiancée, Little Minx singer Perrie Edwards made after the latter saw photos of him getting intimate with a random fan in Thailand.
Meanwhile, as One Direction prepares for their upcoming concert in Manila this weekend, the New York Daily News revealed that the Philippines has imposed a "weed bond" on two 1D members. The Bureau of Immigration has asked Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson to post bonds worth almost $5,000 each, which will be forfeited if they are caught using or impliedly promoting illegal drugs during their concert.
A local Anti-Drugs Advocate group also requested the bureau to strictly scrutinize the band's concert permit after a video circulated online showing Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson purportedly smoking marijuana. Yahoo! News reported the two 1D band members are required to post $4,470 bond and $447 processing fee each through their producer.
By Thursday afternoon, Anti-Drugs Advocate spokeswoman Christine Ching said the producer went to the Immigration Bureau to post the bond and fee. Additionally, the group is awaiting a response to their petition asking a local court to ensure the band members are drug-free.
They are also urging the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to send officers to monitor the band. However, ABSCBN News reported the petition was denied by the court.
Meanwhile, though Zayn Malik won't be joining his fellow band mates in their concert in the Philippines on March 21 and 22, he is expected to return for the band's performance in Johannesburg, South Africa on March 28.
