MacBook Pro 2012 Rumors: Retina or Not?
By Staff Reporter | Jun 07, 2012 02:13 PM EDT
Apple rumors are getting hot right now as the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is ready to open next week. One of the most interest rumors this time is on Apple’s upgrade on its laptop computer – MacBook Pro 2012.
Among many speculations that surrounds the new Apple computer, including 0.74-inch thickness, Thunderbolt, USB 3.0 ports, perhaps the most eye dazzling rumor would be about its Retina Display.
The Retina Display have become popular since Apple’s iPhone 4 and the new iPad, as the company claims that the quality is significantly improved and the images look much smoother by having more pixels than what human eyes can perceive.
It would be amazing to see a Retina display in a laptop computer, thus giving a lot of hype in the Apple community, but how accurate are the claims?
According to one report, the 13-inch version of MacBook Pro will not come with the Retina display.
A “leaked” spec sheet posted on a Chinese website Weiphone earlier this week reported that the 13-inch new MacBook Pro 2012 will have a regular display of 1280 x 80. The spec also mentioned 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, Thunderbolt, and the USB 3.0 ports. However, calling its operation system “Mac OSX Mountain Lion” instead of Apple’s usual notion of “OSX Mountain Lion” gave doubts to some people.
But another rumor, sent anonymously to 9to5Mac, says the 15-inch MacBook Pro features a high resolution 2560 x 1600 Retina Display. According to this spec, the MacBook Pro 2012 will have a 2.6 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and thickness of only 0.74 inch.
Of course, we can only hope that 9to5Mac is right about this rumor as Apple reveals the truth at WWDC starting on June 11. Perhaps an iPhone 5 news might be a plus.
