Mortal Kombat X REVIEW: Gruesome And Bloodier 10th Installment – Yay Or Nay?

Mortal Kombat fans can now rejoice since Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment released the 10th installment of the popular fighting game series on Tuesday. The game was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, with the PS3 and Xbox 360 set for release in late 2015. Given the hype over its release, does Mortal Kombat X live up to fans' expectations?
According to Tom's Guide, Mortal Combat X is perhaps the most gruesome and bloodiest installment in the series. It is also the most sophisticated one in terms of character design, graphics and fight scene executions.
Apart from being pleasing on the eyes, the video game is a competitive brawler that will leave gamers immersed and motivated to reach their goals for hours.
The story mode absolutely takes the cake, with the unlockables and other gaming elements are trailing behind.
In Mortal Kombat X, players are to select which factions they are fighting for. There are five factions: Lin Kuei, Black Dragon, Brotherhood of Shadow, Special Forces and White Lotus. It does not matter which faction one chooses, after all the Mortal Kombat games solely base victory on how one slays his opponents.
The fight scenes are absolutely brilliant. The settings or arenas may be new, but it's very obvious that certain elements have been borrowed from the original game.
For PS4 players, the body-shredding and bloodbath may be a little tame. PC edition gamers on the other hand, can enjoy more blood, gore and violence, according to Slash Gear.
NetherRealm Studios have added a replay function so that players can map out the things that they did well during a fight. This is perhaps the developers' way of allowing players to control and master the new character additions in the game.
Mortal Kombat X still follows the same gaming format found in its predecessors; hence, it's easy to pick up fight moves like punching, kicking and blocking using a few button taps.
As for fatalities - or the special killing moves characters are capable of doing at the finale of a fight - the makers of the video game have decided to offer the secret button combos to execute a fatality for $0.99, Geek.com has learned.
One can buy five easy fatalities for $0.99. If a player wants more, there is also the option of purchasing 30 east fatalities for $4.99.
