GoPro is known for its action cameras and it recently came up with a new addition to its line-up. Its new Hero4 Session is a next generation camera that is compact, light, and more action-friendly.

As reported by the Christian Science Monitor, CEO Nick Woodman said that he thinks this is going to expand their customer base, but he also thinks a lot of people will still scratch their heads when they look at their cameras. 

iDigital Times compared this new model to its predecessors. The Hero4 Session is 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter at a mere 2.6 ounces. GoPro also boasted that this is the first Hero camera that needs no casing in extreme environments.

Stuff said that this new model is a move away from its signature rectangle shape and waterhousing. The smaller size will also make it easier for sports buffs to mount it on their board or helmet.

Unlike its predecessors, Hero4 Session doesn't have a screen that allows users to review areas they want to take a shot at; however the camera can record videos, take photos and turn the device on and off with just one button.

GoPro spokesperson Chris Kinman said last Monday that the company designed this new camera with sports enthusiasts in mind, as well as families who prefer user-friendly cameras during their getaways.

In addition, the camera can also be controlled with a smart remote. A GoPro app installed in the smartphone makes this possible. A single charging will give users 2 hours of straight use, and it does not use power when not recording.

Plus, this new Hero camera has two noise-canceling microphones during recording. It shifts from one mike to another when the user for example, transferring from one environment to another. 

It took 3 years for GoPro in developing Hero4 Session just to come up with a device designed especially for adventurous individuals and those who are always on the go.
