SHOCKING! Rosie Perez is exiting "The View!"
The 50-year-old American actress has made a final decision to leave ABC News' daytime show "The View" in exchange for her love for another craft. She said she wants to direct her focus more on her acting career, as per a report from Xpose.
Rosie Perez's decision to walk away from "The View" comes amid the talk show's low ratings. The show is in a predicament after Barbara Walters' retirement and the departure of Elisabeth Hasselback and Rosie O' Donnell, who announced her exit seven months ago.
Deadline reported that Bill Wolff, executive producer of "The View," wrote in an email, "Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show to pursue full time her love for acting."
He also praised the actress for striking a balance between both her jobs. Furthermore, he promised to give the host a proper send-off when the show wraps up its current season.
According to Mirror, the announcement of Perez's decision to quit comes shortly after Raven-Symoné became an official member of the panel. Symoné said she was ecstatic to become a permanent host on the American daytime show after co-hosting as a guest since March.
She related: "I remember coming on 'The View' when I was 15 years old for the first Cheetah Girls. I'm very happy to be sitting with these smart, talented mentors."
The show's present panel also includes American author Nicolle Wallace and "Ghost" star Whoopi Goldberg.
Rosie Perez final episode on "The View" is on August 6. She is expected to talk about her decision on tomorrow's broadcast.
The talk show host has previously appeared in Ron Shelton's "White Men Can't Jump" and Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing." She has also been starring in a Broadway play called "Fish in the Dark" by Larry David.
