Cassidy Gifford, daughter of "Today" host Kathy Lee Gifford and former NFL player Frank Gifford, has proven that she can make her own mark in the entertainment industry. Starring in this year's summer horror flick "The Gallows," Cassidy is out to prove that she's got what it takes to become a star.

According to IMDB, "The Gallows" revolves around young students who want to revive a 20-year-old school play. The play was left untouched for so many years because of the memory of the horrific accident that happened in the past.

Cassidy Gifford reveals that she went to great lengths to be able to play the role of Cassidy Spiker, a cheerleader who is also involved in the school play. The actress said that she deprived herself of her basic needs i.e. sleep and food, and she internalized bad memories, so she can deliver an authentic and terrifying performance for "The Gallows," Daily News reports.

Cassidy said that she found the right formula she can use in making her vulnerable when it comes to acting — "to be miserable, and horrified....and to cry." She added that she'd get hives sometimes because of the stress that she's putting on her body.

The budding actress revealed that it has always been her dream to become a star. She revealed to Hello Magazine that when she was a little girl, it was her dream to become part of "Rugrats," saying that the concept of animation eludes her at the time.

It seems like she's on her way to achieving her dreams. After "The Gallows", Gifford is set to star in another movie, entitled "Caged No More," alongside Kevin Sorbo, Loretta Devine, Madison De La Garza, Cynthia Gibb, Debra Wilson, Alan Powell, Christos Vasilopoulos and many more.

When Cassidy's not busy with her work as an actress, she's just an average college student. She's currently taking English at the University of Southern California. The actress said that she's still getting used to seeing her poster for "The Gallows" and that she's both "grateful and excited" about the film.
