After the crucial cliffhanger finale of the previous season of "Supernatural," its Season 11 is underway and promises to offer much darker twists. As the Winchester brothers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), continues their journey in hunting down evil forces and demons this fall, a pre-biblical force unleashed itself on Earth.
"Supernatural" Season 11 is set to premiere on Oct. 7 on The CW. So, here are 5 interesting scoops we've learned so far about the show's upcoming season.
1. The Winchester brothers will fight against a common enemy in "Supernatural" Season 11.
In the upcoming season, Jensen Ackles, who plays the roles of the elder Wenchester brother Dean, revealed during the Comic-Con event in July that the brothers will fight against The Darkness, TVLine noted.
"One of things I like about [the Season 11 storyline] is it's going back to the original format of having both brothers unaffected, meaning not drinking demon blood, not with the Mark of Cain on their arm," he said.
Even though the brothers will have each other's back in defeating The Darkness, Ackles added that it will be very challenging for them since they knew nothing about it.
2. Castiel (Misha Collins) will deal with the aftershocks of the attack dog spell that made him stab Crowley (Mark Sheppard).
Before he can help the Winchester brothers in their fight against evil, the angel must deal with the consequences of the powerful spell. Collins also explained that angels thought The Darkness was only a scary bedtime tale, Design & Trend reported.
"Cas didn't think that the Darkness was a real thing," he explained. "So it's that old of a force."
3. Crowley, the King of Hell, is alive?
Crowley may be alive, according to a report by TVGuide. And co-producer and writer Andrew Dabb hinted the character's fate in "Supernatural" Season 11.
"The second episode of the season... introduces Crowley in a way [pauses and clears throat]... if Crowley were still alive, we'd introduce Crowley in a way we've never seen him before," Dabb revealed. "Uh, fail! Now I'm in trouble."
4. "Supernatural" Season 11 casting is underway.
Emily Swallow will be joining the cast of the upcoming series. As per another TVLine report, Swallow will play the role of Amara, who is described as sinister and seductive, and will be a major role in the upcoming season.
5. "Supernatural" spin-off in the works?
CW President Mark Pedowitz announced the possibility of a "Supernatural" spinoff during the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour.
"We'd love to do one," the network head honcho said, International Business Times quoted. "It probably will not happen this year, but at some point, there will be another swing."
Meanwhile, as "Supernatural" Season 11 premieres this October, the series will have a home on The CW network for as long as the ratings hold and Padalecki and Jensen are on board, another TVGuide report said.
"If the guys want to do it, we're in," Pedowitz said. "They've done a terrific job and I'm very excited about the guys wanting to keep on doing it. They bring fresh enthusiasm to it each week."
