Will Smith, star of the upcoming DC film "Suicide Squad," is reportedly working on a new television program that's similar to the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

According to TV Line, the show will carry the same themes of the popular 90s sitcom from NBC. However, instead of starring in it, Smith will only serve as executive producer.

The actor's Overbrook Entertainment production firm will oversee the development of the program. He will be joined by his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and brother-in-law, Caleeb Pinkett in the project.

IGN reported that the upcoming show from Smith's company will not be a direct reboot of the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." It will most probably be given a different title but will carry the same fish-out-of-water type of narrative.

In the original series, which ran from 1990 to 1996, Smith played a fictionalized version of himself who was nicknamed as The Fresh Prince on the show. The premise of the program revolved around Smith's teenage character from West Philadelphia.

Due to a series of unfortunate events, Smith's mother, played by Vernee Watson-Johnson, decided to send him to live in the high-class neighborhood of Bel Air, L.A. with his uncle and aunt. The clash between Smith's street-smart background and his relatives' sophisticated demeanor served as the backbone of the series' humor and progression.

Aside from the television program, Smith is also busy working on the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film. In the movie, which is based on a group of anti-heroes from the DC comic books, Smith will take on the role of Deadshot, a hired assassin who has exceptional skills in using different kinds of weapons, according to BGR.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016. Joining Smith in the film are Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as the Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo and Karen Fukuhara as Katana.
