‘Big Bang Theory’ Season 9 SHOCKER: ‘Mom’s’ Melissa Tang Joins Cast As Leonard’s ‘Other’ Woman Mandy

"Big Bang Theory" will inject an apparent conflict to the Penny-Leonard romance by introducing the other woman in the life of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) in the upcoming 9th season of the show.
Melissa Tang, also known as Suzanne Taylor in "Mom," will join "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 as Mandy, the woman Penny's fiancé kissed during the North Sea expedition, TV Line reported.
Season 8 ended with quite a cliffhanger when Leonard confessed to cheating on Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) on the eve of their elopement. And it won't be long now until Penny meets Mandy as Tang's character will appear in the second episode of the 9th season, Variety has learned.
Tang's additional credits include appearances in "How I Met Your Mother" and "New Girl," as well as a regular appearance on FOX's "Goodwin Games."
But before Mandy turns up in the picture, Season 9 will pick up just a few short hours after where Season 8 left off with Leonard and Penny driving to Las Vegas to tie the knot. That is, if Leonard's indiscretion doesn't ruin things between him and Penny.
But given that a minister is in the process of being cast for the forthcoming premiere of "Big Bang Theory" and that the couple didn't turn around to head back to Pasadena, Cinema Blend suggests that the two will at least still be thinking about getting married when the show resumes.
After all, Cuoco seemed to have hinted on a Las Vegas wedding when she previously posted on Instagram a behind-the-scene snap of her and Galecki followed by the photo of her upside down wedding cake.
Meanwhile, show creator Chuck Lorre has confirmed Penny's last name to be Barrington, according to Food World News. The confirmation fuelled speculations that Penny's biological father might also be introduced in the Season 9 of "Big Bang Theory." Producers and writers of the show have not yet commented on the possibility though.
