Here comes the good news for all those who have preordered the Nexus 7 tablet from the Google Play Store. The Android creator has confirmed that the new tablet would be shipped to the customers over the next few days.
The guys from the Android Police have suggested in their reports that Google will ship out all preorders made through the Google Play store over the next three business days, with some tablets already on their way since June 13. Google has also informed that once customers' orders have shipped they will receive a confirmation email along with a tracking number so they know exactly what their shipment status is.
Google took Twitter to confirm they've begun shipping out tablets on June 13, where the following rhyming tweet was issued. Here's the full message:
"Locked and loaded, ready to play: we've started shipping +Nexus 7 pre-orders today!"
As far as specs are concerned, Nexus 7 -- designed by Google and manufactured by Asus -- will pack a 7-inch display (with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution) in "Scratch-resistant Corning glass", 1.2MP front-facing camera and built-in NFC, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.
The tablet will come powered by Nvidia's Tegra 3 chip, which has a quad-core processor, 12-core graphics chip, 1GB RAM and will come preinstalled with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. The Nexus 7 weighs 340 grams, has a dimension of 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mm and is loaded with 4325mAh battery.
Kicking a direct competition with Amazon Kindle Fire tablets, Nexus 7 is available for pre-order in UK, US, Canada and Australia via Google Play Store in two variants 8GB and 16GB, costing $199.99 and $249.99, respectively.
Nexus 7 tablet is an attempt to heavily attract consumer media from the Google Play Store, as the tablet will support a full complement of media types, such as, video, magazines, music, books and more. Furthermore, Nexus 7 will also offer a custom Google Maps app. Other goodies include Chrome browser, a free copy of the latest Transformers movie and $25 credit in the Play Store.
