The 2014 dystopian movie "Maze Runner" was adapted on screen because the book written by James Dashner became insanely popular among readers. When a novel becomes a hit, expect that it will be translated into either a TV series or into a film. "Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials" is no exception to that trend. The latest scoop involves Dylan O'Brien's character Thomas and Kaya Scodelario's Teresa.
Parent Herald reported Dylan O'Brien talked about the connection of Thomas and Teresa. In a conversation with Screen Rant, "The Internship" actor divulged that the lead character's relationship in the movie does not resemble that of the book, primarily because they have no telepathy toward each other. Nevertheless, he pointed out that their friendship was "very interesting."
"For me, in the book, what I noticed, the spirit, we're not doing it entirely because we don't have the telepathy thing, but they're distant. All of a sudden that connection isn't there," said O'Brien.
In James Dashner's book, which told the story of Thomas and his companions as they attempted to escape and live after being subjected to a sequence of experiments conducted by a group called WICKED, Thomas kept his distance from Teresa in the first chapter. He did not cry out for her. They were separated, and she gave him the impression of not caring. O'Brien revealed that the movie will be showing that.
"We're doing that here, definitely without that telepathy thing," he said. "There's a disconnect and there's a reason why and you find out and it's going to be a really interesting thing for the two characters to experience together."
Furthermore, the "Teen Wolf" actor divulged that the rapport of Thomas and newcomer Rosa Salazar's character Brenda would blossom. The pair would undergo tough times ahead, which is the reason for them getting close together, International Business Times reported.
Dylan said, "She's like really sassy with him, and at first he kind of hates her too and I love that. They go out on this adventure together and they save one another and start to understand one another and I think that's really cool," as per Screen Rant.
According to The Latino Post, one of the scenes from the book, which was a fan favorite that would probably be translated into the movie will be Thomas' coming across with the Crank — zombie-like being —who targets his nose.
"There's a bunch of things that we do try to at least, you know, I think this is going to be great for the book fans. This, at least, is going to be really, really f—ing cool," exclaimed Dylan.
"Maze Runner 2: The Scorch Trials" will premiere on Sept. 18.
