Morgan Freeman's granddaughter, E'Dena Hines, was found dead on the streets of Washington Heights on Sunday Morning. Her alleged boyfriend was the said culprit as he was trying to "cast out evils" based on reports.
The authorities found the body of the 33-year old Hines at W. 162nd near St. Nicholas Ave. around 3 a.m., according to NY Daily News. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital Center but it was too late.
Her alleged boyfriend was brought into the headquarters after. A knife essential to the killing was found at the crime scene as well. The suspect is subject for mental evaluation at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
Notably, a witness named George Hudacko saw the gruesome crime and pointed out that the man was shouting repeatedly while stabbing the victim.
"Get out devils! I cast you out Devils in the name of Jesus Christ! I cast you out!" according to Hudacko. He later dialled 911 and called for help.
Aside from Hudacko, another witness, the 26-year-old Jovita Bedolla reportedly said that Freeman's granddaughter was "topless." She was able to witness the incident through her bathroom window.
The police are still investigating the crime as of this moment.
Meanwhile, Freeman mourns the demise of her granddaughter and made a brief statement on his Facebook account, ABC reported.
Another statement was released on USA Today shortly after the incident via his representative Stan Rosefield. "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer," as quoted.
Hines is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife. Following the footsteps of her grandfather, she took acting courses in New York City's Graduate Acting Program, based on her own website. Some of her TV and movie stints include "Five Flights Up" and "What Would You Do."
Aside from acting, she also had a talent for writing and teaching. Her friends often described her as energetic, loud, and animated.
Details about her funeral wake are still under the wraps.
