Xiaomi, a Chinese smartphone maker who recently announced that it would be manufacturing phones in India, launched a version of Mi user interface (MIUI) that will run on its handsets outside of China.

The announcement of MIUI 7 was made during an event in New Delhi on Aug. 19, International Business Times reported. The new interface brings a lot of cool features to the smartphones, and here are some of them.

1.  Run more apps, consume less battery

Xiaomi claimed that the newest version of the software can help run applications for up to 30 percent faster while consuming less battery.

Opera, which the company said it had partnered with, will reportedly compress the data for mobile usage in browsers and other apps for up to 50 percent. This will also optimize the audio and video streaming.

2.  Interactive Visual Response

This India-specific feature, which supports ten local languages, allows the users to visualize the voice prompt options.

It can be used for banking, booking air tickets and for some transactions from 50 Indian partners, which includes Citibank, ICICI bank, Spicejet, Indigo, Tata Sky and HeroMotoCorp.

3. Tighter Integration System with Mi Band wearable

This feature, once programmed, can detect when the user is sleeping. It automatically sets the phone into a "do not disturb mode."

4. Child Mode

This feature limits the access to email and messages. It also offers parents the control over apps through settings menu, according to Android Authority.

With this feature, there is now a way to lock the phone partially when it is being used by children. This is to eliminate harmful or improper software and content.

5. Baby Album and Showtime

This uses facial recognition to organize the snaps of a child in a dedicated album, Xiaomi claimed. For rolling images, it can be also linked to the lock screen background.

Meanwhile, the Showtime feature will let the user assign a five-second looping video to each contact, which will play whenever they call, Tech Crunch learned.

Xiaomi will start rolling out the global version of MIUI 7 on Aug. 24, as per the report of International Business Times. It is currently supporting seven devices — Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Mi 4, Mi 3, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G and Mi 4i.
