Petition For Jon Stewart To Host A 2016 Presidential Debate Reaches Beyond 100,000 [UPDATE]

A petition to make Jon Stewart host a presidential debate for the upcoming 2016 elections has already reached beyond 100,000 signatures today as 130,000 supporters have already extended their desire to urge the Commission on Presidential Debates on said plea. It targets to garner 150,000 supporters.
The petition was initiated by Muriel Waters two weeks ago and has increased by a whopping 1200 percent since Wednesday, CNN Money reported. Waters said that trust is a salient attribute that a presidential debate moderator must have and cited a Reuters/Ipsos poll confirming that the comedian shares the same values and views with majority of the Americans.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the past 16 years have enabled Stewart to portray a huge and influential role in US politics and media. The satirical news host has interviewed a number of political personalities including 15 heads of state, 22 members of the US Cabinet, 32 members of the senate, seven members of the U. S. House of Representatives as well as other political advocates and leaders from around the globe.
Los Angeles Times also underscored that supporters of said Change.org appeal should not lose hope in their cause as a 2012 plea from three high school students have been heeded by the commission in their urge to have a woman moderator in one of the presidential debates. In October that year, Candy Crowley became the first woman in 20 years to host said debate.
However, the commission has not responded to a request comment on the issue, Time stated.
Just recently, Stewart ended his 16-year stint on "The Daily Show" which earned him Peabody awards for covering the presidential elections in 2000 and 2004. He will also be a guest host on "WWE Summerslam" this Sunday. Meanwhile, Trevor Noah, previously a contributor to the same show, will replace his post starting Sept. 28.
