Another wave of zombies is yet to come in television. Aside from the five successful seasons of "The Walking Dead," AMC is ready to give its viewers another taste of post-apocalyptic drama by introducing spin-off "Fear the Walking Dead."
Showrunner Dave Erickson shared a glimpse of the newest "The Walking Dead" spin-off, as per The Hollywood Reporter. Here are the list of 5 things we should expect:
1. Just like in the previous series that depict zombies and flesh-eating creatures, its origin will not be the focal point of the whole story.
"I had a couple of early pitches that touched on that and Robert ('TWD' Creator) shut me down," Erickson explained. But according to him, Robert said that it is all about the "impact on people."
2. There are no plans for a "The Walking Dead" crossover so far. So, fans might not see characters from Georgia to Los Angeles.
3. The series will focus more on the "ordinary" characters like teachers, guidance counselors and nurses to name a few. So high profiled characters like politicians are unlikely to be seen on the series.
4. Compared to the other walker series, zombies of "Fear The Walking Dead" will be literally hard-headed.
"The point was it's hard physically to kill somebody," Erickson added.
5. Aside from the cause, the cure won't be available for the series as well.
As for the plot, the show's story begins with rather a "dysfunctional" family, as Wired noted.
Unlike "TWD," which focuses on the aftermath of the zombie invasion, the newest spin-off, as explained by Deadline, tells the story of the ordinary people and the unexpected fall that is waiting to happen in the city of LA.
The new series' cast features Kim Dickens as Madison, Clark's head of the family, Alycia Debnam-Carey as her daughter Alicia and Frank Dillane as her son Nick. Meanwhile, Cliff Curtis and Lorenzo James Henrie will be Travis and Chris respectively, Madison's boyfriend and his son.
Catch the pilot episode of "Fear The Walking Dead" in AMC on Aug. 23 at 9 pm.
