The Garvey family led by Jennifer Anniston's new husband, Justin Theroux, who plays Kevin Garvey will head to a world-renowned small town in Texas called Miracle - aptly so since not a single individual has vanished in the Sudden Departure. Nevertheless, after they settled in, someone disappeared. Entertainment Weekly reported, Lindelof said, "It has a population of over 9,000, and nobody departed. What would a place like that be? But I think that the second part of the idea is what would happen there if there was a departure? In the normal world, if somebody goes missing, we go, 'Oh, they're the victim of foul play,' like somebody kidnapped them or hurt them, or they just ran away. But in this world, in the world that this concept exists, there is the third possibility."

Creator and book author Tom Perotta, said, "Season 1 was about how a family fell apart. And season 2 is about how a family tries to come back together."
-
"The Leftovers" Season 2 will slightly gear towards the plot than that to Season 1 but without the expense on the character's focus. Lindelof added, "we wanted the second season of the show to have a narrative engine."

Justin Theroux's character will meet John and Erika Murphys, Kevin Carroll and Regina King's characters respectively, after leaving his work as a chief of police and relocating his family in Texas. Finally, LIndelof has revealed that the climactic conflict within Season 2 would be created by "Season 1 is trying to get in." A "much more immediate sense of something happening versus an examination of something that happened" in Season 2.
