New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker recently received a transplant and will serve as the face behind ads for the Rhode Island doctor who performed the procedure.
Welker had the five hour long surgery done in Cranston this month, which involved transplanting hair follicles to areas in Welker's scalp where he was starting to bald.
The office of Dr. Robert Leonard performed the procedure, and said that he should expect to have new hair growth within a four month time span. Dr. Leonard says the procedure should not affect any of Welker's daily activities, including playing sports and wearing headgear while doing so.
As the new face for Dr. Leonard's hair procedure, Welker will be featured in radio, TV and print ads.
"When I was considering hair transplantation I knew that I wanted to work with the best in the field and that is why I chose Dr. Robert Leonard," Welker said. "Dr. Leonard has a tremendous reputation and his knowledge and expertise helped put my mind at ease throughout the process."
Welker's first appearance will be this fall where he will be discussing his experience with having the procedure done and provide his insight on hair loss.
