Even though "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" won't be navigating its way to theaters until Jul. 7, 2017, updates about the movie have kept on popping up, which add up to the excitement of all "Pirates" fans.
As Johnny Depp reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," here are 5 latest scoops we've learned about the upcoming Disney nautical film.
1. No Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales?"
While Orlando Bloom is set to return as Will Turner, the love of his life, Elizabeth Swann will be absent in the fifth installment of the film. According to Movie Pilot, while their love story has been the main focus of the original trilogy and has been intertwined from the start, Turner will carry on in the movie without Swann.
"My time has definitely passed, I loved it, it was an amazing experience but I won't be going back," Knightley said.
2. "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" will feature a two-decade jump from "At World's End" and will follow Davy Jones' son.
Since Bill Nighy's original Davy Jones died in the film's third installment, the upcoming movie will likely follow Will Turner's son. And Brenton Thwaites, who have been rumored to play the role of Will and Elizabeth's son Henry as previously reported, recently revealed some important details of the movie.
"It's about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones," Thwaites said. "There's a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it's about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad."
3. Orlando Bloom would be gnarly instead of being the handsome and courageous blacksmith's apprentice known in the previous "Pirates" films.
For months, there have been incessant rumors about Bloom's comeback in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." Now, CrossMap revealed that his return has finally confirmed and was announced in the recently concluded D23. Unfortunately, he might not return as the handsome and courageous blacksmith's apprentice, instead he would be gnarly as Davy Jones, who lives at the bottom of the ocean.
"I'm of course Davy Jones now, so I'm down the bottom of the ocean," Bloom told IGN last December. "It might be kind of fun to do something where I'm rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won't look anything like me."
4. Kaya Scodelario to replace Keira Knightley?
Since Knightley won't be reprising her role, Scodelario will step in as the new female lead Carina Smith in "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
5. Aside from ghost pirates, "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" promises Poseidon and more adventure for Jack Sparrow.
"When the villainous Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) and his army of deadly ghost pirates and threaten to kill every living pirate, Jack Sparrow must go on an adventure to find the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that gives its possessor complete control over the seas," the film's synopsis read, as per International Business Times.
