Samsung Gear S2 is coming soon, and the company's VP for Design Dennis Miloseski has given it a test drive, The Verge learned, Tuesday. The public is getting a closer look at the new smartwatch as the exec shared a photo of it on Instagram. "Giving the new Samsung Gear S2 a test drive. #samsung #watch #wearable #nextlevel," Miloseski captioned the post.
So far, what are the specs facts and rumors that we know about the Samsung Gear S2?
Based on the snap the exec shared, it's safe to say that the new smartwatch will come in a circular form. Although it isn't exactly new to the tech industry — since Motorola started the trend — but it is Samsung's first round smartwatch.
Samsung Gear S2 also has a rotating bezel, according to Slash Gear. Although, how it will be utilized remains to be discovered.
The new gadget will reportedly run on Tinzen platform, not Android. Many tech enthusiasts theorize that the software limits its potential to have more available useful apps.
Rumor has it that Samsung Gear S2 will bear a nano SIM card slot. If proven to be true, the smartwatch will be able to make outgoing and receive incoming calls even without a smartphone.
Though the new gear is expected to have Wi-Fi connectivity, the SIM feature — again if proven to be true — will allow the device to have its own data. That simply means it can have an independent Internet connection.
It has also been reported that the new watch will be powered by a 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos 3472. Its RAM is reportedly the highest among the smartwatches at 768MB.
A lot of specs rumors may have surfaced, but the full details of Gear S2 is expected to be unveiled by Samsung at the IFA 2015. Engadget reported that the event would commence early in September.
