Dane Cook Jokes About 'Dark Knight' Shooting: Days After James Holmes' Court Appearance

Most people would agree that it's a bit too soon to be taking jabs at last Friday's massacre in Aurora, Colorado, where 12 lives were taken and 58 people were injured. However, comedian Dane Cook doesn't seem to care too much.
In one of his stand up acts this week, Cook mocked the theater shooting in front of a crowd at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.
Cook prefaced his joke by saying "here we go."
"So I heard that the guy came into the theater about 25 minutes into the movie," he said. "And I don't know if you've seen the movie, but the movie is pretty much a piece of crap. Yea, spoiler alert."
"I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like 'ugh f------ shoot me,'" Cook remarked.
The crowd's response to the joke saw a mix of disapproving groans, laughter and cheers.
While some feel like joking about the tragedy is inappropriate, the crowd's mixed response could suggest that others perhaps see it as liberating and even helpful in the healing process.
In another unsuspected response to the shooting, batman star Christian Bale made an appearance earlier this week at the hospital where victims of the shooting were taken and cared for.
The suspect, 24-year-old James Holmes, is currently in solitary confinement where he has been since his arrest on July 20. He made his first appearance in court this Monday.
