Nick Jonas of former Jonas Brothers fame has found success as a solo artist. The singer-songwriter has been recently dubbed by rapper and hiphop mogul Jay Z as the next Justin Timberlake.

According to HollywoodLife, after the 22-year old Jonas performed at Jay Z's "Made In America" fest on September 5, the rapper reportedly saw his potential and compared him to frequent Jay Z collaborator, Justin Timberlake.

"Jay Z is always a forward thinking businessman and always wants to be on the cutting edge of music, business and anything else that will make him the entrepreneur that he is — and his next project is Nick Jonas," a source tells HollywoodLife.

It's hard not to see the comparison as both Jonas and Timberlake started their careers as members of a popular boy band, then later went solo and became bigger than ever. Another similarity is both Jonas and Timberlake also act in movies every now and then.

But the news for Jonas just keeps getting better and better as Jay Z reportedly "wants to record with him and he wants Beyoncé to record with him. He sees Nick as the next Justin Timberlake."

Nick Jonas also just recently released a tweeted new single called "Area Code" and rumors are going that it's about former flame Selena Gomez, according to billboard.com

With lyrics such as "I'm in your area code / I hit you up, are you alone? / So many places this could go / Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah / I'm f—ed up, you don't even know / Baby, it's better that you don't / I'm guessing now my cover's blown," rumor has it that he is talking about Gomez.

As reported by Syracuse.com, the young singer also performed at the Chevy Court while drinking beer and swearing. He also performed covers of old songs and even touted a steamy new music video.

It seems that Jonas is finally shedding his young image and ready to fully launch a career as a serious musician.
