Queen Elizabeth is set to become the longest reigning monarch in the history of the U.K. come Sept. 9, 2015. She will surpass her great grandmother, Queen Victoria, for that honor.

According to Telegraph, the Queen was just 25 years old when she received the crown on the 6th of February, 1952.

However, Buckingham Palace can't be specific regarding the time the Queen will overtake Victoria, as the exact time of King George VI's death is unclear.

The palace announced that they will mark the occasion with a range of fine china souvenirs and three identical exhibitions entitled, "Long To Reign Over Us, at The Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse."

As reported by NBC news, comparison about Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria is abound. Among their many similarities, both monarchs assumed the throne at a very young age, with Victoria at 18 years old.

Both of them also ruled throughout periods of great transformation. According to British historian Andrew Roberts to NBC News, "In both cases the monarchy changed significantly during their reigns."

Roberts further added, "They were both very good at judging the public mood and modernizing the monarchy accordingly. Both of them, toward the end of their lives, the monarchy became tremendously popular."

Queen Victoria got into the throne in 1837 and oversaw the peak of the British Empire and at one point, ruled over one-quarter of the world's landmass.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth has been declared to have a "deft political sense" and shown leadership in both the Great Britain and the Commonwealth countries.

"She has a sixth sense for what is in the wind," Roberts said.

As reported by BBC, Queen Elizabeth has out-reigned and even outlived a handful of world leaders ranging from UK prime ministers, US presidents and Soviet Russian leaders.

And come Sept. 9, 2015, Queen Elizabeth's longevity will be celebrated.
