Mindy Kaling's "The Mindy Project" is back for Season 4, but this time, the show will be available for its fans to see on Hulu. Check out 3 things that can enthuse fans even more ahead of the show's premiere this Tuesday.
1. "The Mindy Project" Season 4 will pick up where Season 3 left off.
Hoooray Mindy fans! Despite having a new home on Hulu, "The Mindy Project" will still pick up where Season 3, which was aired on Fox, left off. In the finale of the previous season, viewers saw Danny approaching the doorstep of Mindy Lahiri's parents' apartment in India, and this is not in the alternate universe.
Mindy Kaling opened up about the premiere episode in an interview with E! News. She said, "At the end of last season, we ended with the characters at such odds with each other, and then this huge move where Danny went to India. We talked about what would happen [in the premiere]." Kaling also revealed that fans should not worry about having a predictable storyline for her character saying: "we knew we'd have extra time because we're on Hulu-which is such a gift, the episode is 27 minutes long-and I think we just don't want things to happen to Mindy on a predictable schedule. And they haven't."
2. Mindy's parents would be involved on the show this season.
When asked by TV Guide if Mindy Lahiri's parents would be part of this new season, the lead actress said "definitely." She also gushed about what Mindy's parents would be offering to the series. "We've already written them into a couple more episodes. We had so much fun with Rhea [Perlman] last year as Danny's mom and it just added so much depth to Danny's character. She was such a funny character and an adversary to Mindy. So having Mindy's parents, who are such unique characters, would be great on the show to build out the world.
The 36-year-old comedienne was also quoted as saying in a separate interview with the Los Angeles Times that Danny's interaction with Lahiri's parents "would provide for a colorful cast of characters."
3. A supernatural adventure for Mindy during the premiere of "The Mindy Project" Season 3.
The pilot episode on Hulu will feature a Sliding Door moment that will introduce fans to Mindy Lahiri's alternate world with dream husband Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Speaking of this storyline, Kaling said that the unique storyline was brought about by Danny's absence since he is in India when the show returns.
The actress told Los Angeles Times, "So back in New York, we wondered what adventure can we go on while all that is taking place. And it made sense that if we were ever going to do a supernatural episode, to do it in the premiere. We had a feeling Hulu would give us extra time, which I think is the only way to do such an episode, because it really needs to breathe."
Don't miss "The Mindy Project" Season 3 when it premieres this Tuesday on Hulu. This season has 26 episodes, and one episode will be released each week just as though it's still on TV.
