Captain Marvel To Be Played By Emily Blunt? Actress Talks About Superhero Role

"Captain Marvel" is coming in 2018 but the actress who'll don the costume has yet to be named.
According to Entertain This, one rumored actress to play the role is none other than Emily Blunt, of "Edge of Tomorrow" fame.
Bad news for fans clamoring for her to take on the role here's what she has to say about it. "No, I have not heard anything about 'Captain Marvel.'" said Blunt on a recent interview.
And according to Movie Pilot, Blunt said "I've not had a phone call about it. Not one whisper of 'Captain Marvel' has come my way. Promise. Promise promise. I don't even know who 'Captain Marvel' is!"
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may recall that Blunt was actually one of the leading actresses before to play the Black Widow, a role that eventually went to Scarlett Johansson.
As for the role, being considered to be superhero material may be a thrill to others but Blunt spoke about the negative side of it.
"I think it's because the list is very short, because we don't see women in these kind of roles. So I think as soon as you do a role like that, like Charlize (Theron) did or I did, or Rebecca's (Ferguson from 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation') done — there's like four of us or something. And Jen Lawrence. So I feel like us four, we get talked about - and Angie, Angelina. "
Blunt further added "So it's a list of like, four women who are going to be considered for those kind of roles. So I think that's why the rumors happen, because they're like, 'who else? Surely not another girl can wield a gun,' you know what I mean? 'A woman doing push-ups? There's only one who can do that.'"
Cosmic Book News reported that Blunt is actually the fan-favorite to play the role of Captain Marvel. However, with Blunt lacking any information and seemingly uninterested on the role, fans may want to start looking for other options.
