Microsoft will be hosting an event in October in New York, and it is expected that the tech giant will be unveiling a new set of devices for Windows 10. What is anticipated to be included, other than Surface Pro 4 and new Microsoft Band, are Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
We know that Surface Pro 4 is a tablet/laplet. We also know that Lumias are smartphones, but what is the difference between 950 and 950 XL?
Starting with their codenames, Lumia 950 is called as Talkman and Lumia 950 XL is Cityman. How are they similar?
Both devices are expected to have a matte white or a black polycarbonate body, an iris scanner for Windows Hello, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage with a MicroSD card slot and USB Type-C.
Talkman and Cityman will reportedly feature a 5MP wide-angle front facing camera and a 20MP PureView rear camera, with a triple LED flash, according to The BitBag.
Both will reportedly have a 1440×2560 OLED display. However, Lumia 950 only has a 5.2 inch WQHD screen, while the 950 XL is expected to have a 5.7 inch WQHD.
Under the hood, Lumia 950 is anticipated to run a Snapdragon 808, 64-bit Hexacore, while a Snapdragon 810, 64-bit Octacore for the Lumia 950 XL, The REM reported. Another difference is the battery capacity — Cityman having 3,300 mAh compared with Talkman's 3,000 mAh.
Lumia 950 is rumored to have a Qi wireless charging with flip cover, while integrated Qi wireless charging is anticipated for 950 XL.
The invitations for the event have been distributed. After the announcement, earlier reports suggested the gadgets may not be available right away, with Microsoft Surface Pro 4 anticipated to be released in November, while the Lumia 950 and 950 XL during the holidays, as per the report of PC Tablet.
The specs mentioned above are, of course, only projected. We will know more when Microsoft officially announces these new gadgets on Oct. 6.
