Liam Neeson's "Taken" was well received by viewers that it even extended to a third installment. The movie chronicled the life and adventures of Bryan Mills, a former CIA operative on a quest to hunt down his kidnapped daughter.
Among the many list of action movies, "Taken" surprised everyone when it became a box office hit and thrusted the 60-year-old actor into the limelight as the skillful and smart Mills out for a one-man mission.
Deadline has gathered reports that Luc Besson will bring "Taken" into the small screen with a prequel about a younger Bryan Mills which has acquired a straight-to-series order at NBC. The series will be co-produced by Universal TV and Besson's EuropaCorp.
"Taken" the series pays tribute to the movies and will uncover how Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills, a young man with no wife and daughter, got his "very particular set of skills" as quoted from what he said to one of the thugs who may have a hand in the abduction of his daughter.
He said, "What I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career; Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you."
Currently, the search for a showrunner/writer to lead the movie adaptation is ongoing. Cinemablend shared that the "Taken" series would ultimately show how Bryan Mills honed his particular talent that he's developed over time and what were his missions while involved in the CIA. But, according to TV Line, Mills won't be dealing with the past decades' CIA since "Taken" the series will be established in modern day. Sounds confusing, we'll have to see how that will turn out.
Naturally, Liam Neeson who was mainly the reason for the movie's success will not be included in "Taken" the series but who knows, maybe he'll come onboard and be the character who imparts the skills to the younger Mills.
