"Scalebound" is an action role-playing game of Hideki Kamiya. It will roll out exclusively for Xbox One, and True Achievements learned that there was a short video released by Platinum Games that teases Drew, the protagonist of the game, showing off his dragon form.
The site stated that the sneak peek of the "Scalebound" gameplay was from the trailer released at Gamescom.
Thuban, the companion dragon of Drew in "Scalebound," can be seen in the video fighting a giant mantis. Drew shifts into his dragon form and helps his companion.
Meanwhile, Microsoft's Xbox One team reportedly thinks that the game's exclusivity to its console will boost the company's sale in Japan.
Xbox One faced an uphill battle with PS4 in the land of the rising sun, the Gaming Bolt reported. However, the Xbox Marketing manager Masashi Inoue said that "Scalebound" could turn things around.
"I think not only it's an exclusive for Xbox, but PlatinumGames is well known, and has big fans in Japan and also overseas," Inoue told Dualshockers at the Tokyo Fanfest. "So, having seen those great demos, I firmly believe that that it's going to deliver a lot of excitement to our customers, and we're looking forward to the release."
It seems that the timing was right when Microsoft approached Platinum Games, Lazygamer.net learned. Jean Pierre Kellams, creative producer for Platinum Games, told the same site that the company asked them if they have something challenging and big they can work together.
"So we showed them Scalebound, and it was a really interesting pitch process, it took a long time. There was actually a big steel book that has the original design on it, that we showed, we kind of "Boom, this the scale of our game," Kellams said.
Whether or not "Scalebound" will captivate the gamers remain to be seen. At this point, the expectations for Platinum Games and Microsoft are high.
"Scalebound" is set to be released in 2016.
