“Thor 3: Ragnarok” is slated to hit theaters two years from now, but there could be one big problem for actress Jaimie Alexander when the movie starts production and it could mean her absence from the upcoming Marvel movie.
In July, Alexander already confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con that she is set to reprise her role as Lady Sif in the third "Thor" movie. "You'll definitely see Sif again, that's for sure," she was quoted as saying by MTV at the time before she confirmed that she is appearing in the Chris Hemsworth starrer.
Jaimie has portrayed the character for "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD," "Thor" and "Thor: The Dark World," so it would be great to see her reprising the lady warrior yet again for another "Thor" installment.
However, IMDb has learned that Alexander may be having a hard time with her current project lineup. Two weeks ago, her NBC series "Blindspot" premiered to promising and strong ratings.
In the series, Alexander plays Jane Doe who woke up stuffed naked in a bag in the middle of the hustle and bustle in Times Square, only to find that she's been heavily adorned with mysterious tattoos. And the catch? The tattoos are clues to mysterious and possibly crime-related events and the people involved in such. Her character also has special abilities, making the show even more interesting.
Speaking of her character on the NBC show and how Jane Doe is relatable to the series' target audience, Alexander told Los Angeles Times in July, "I think everybody can sort of relate to feeling like the outcast, and feeling a bit lost and just craving somebody's attention. It's actually very relatable. It's heightened circumstances, but it's extremely relatable."
When asked about her Marvel engagements, Jaimie Alexander admitted that she's still in the dark since Marvel purposely does not tell her certain things. She said, "Marvel, I think on purpose, they don't tell me certain things. Because they know I'll be like, 'So here's what's gonna happen.' But I do know I will be in 'Thor 3' and that Sif will have a very pivotal part in that movie."
Fast forward to the present and IMDb noted that Alexander has stated that, "she may not appear in the film ["Thor 3: Ragnarok"] as Lady Sif due to her commitment on the TV series 'Blindspot.'" Whether this is the real deal or not remains to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, other developments in the upcoming movie include the announcements that Amore the Enchantress, Skurge, Balder, Beta Ray Bill and Surtur are appearing in "Thor 3: Ragnarok." However, casting for the following characters has yet to be done.
