Microsoft Lumia 950 XL Price, Specification & More: Windows Phone Better Than Competition?

Microsoft has already unveiled its big smartphone, the Lumia 950 XL, and many are wondering whether it has a spot in the phablet market that is being conquered by the likes of Apple’s iPhone 6S Plus and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5. Read on to find out the specs and features of Lumia 950’s big brother.
Launched alongside the Lumia 950, the 5.7-inch phablet Lumia 950 XL is built to showcase the things Windows mobile can offer. The device is substantially thin and light that Gizmodo even tagged its weight as something that says "cheap."
However, Gizmodo was quick to clarify that given its specs and features, the Lumia 950 XL does not at all come cheap. Rather it is a powerful smartphone that delivers quality performance you pay for just to have one.
The bigger Lumia 950 runs on Windows 10, which is not surprising since Microsoft has already swore to give the Windows 10 experience to all of its devices, be it a smartphone, a tablet, PC or even its video game console.
With the large size of the AMOLED screen, it's obvious that the Windows 10 software is being maximized by the 950 XL. Connecting the device to a Microsoft Display Dock via USB Type-C connector, the device transforms into a Windows 10 PC, noted Sydney Morning Herald.
The flagship phablet also packs in a lot of goodies for its relatively large size. First, the screen resolution of its display is 2,560 x 1,440 which translates to 518 ppi - larger than that of the iPhone 6S Plus if you want to compare it to the latter.
While the competition devices are going with the trend of having non-removable batteries, Microsoft has opted for a large 3,340mAh removable battery for this monster phone.
The internal storage of the Lumia 950 XL is 32GB, but it has a slot for the microSD of up to 200GB, while its rivals could only hope for the day their manufacturers would include expandable storage to them.
Microsoft's new phablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with 64-bit octa-core technology. The Windows 10-running handset also has a generous 3GB of RAM, as listed by Engadget.
Just like previous Lumia flagships, the 950 XL comes with an impressive camera technology: a 20-megapixel Pureview triple LED flash primary shooter and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.
All these specs and features you can enjoy when you choose to but the Lumia 950 XL, which shells at $649 — a more affordable price tag than its competitors.
