Michael Jordan just added some fuel to the "Linsanity" hype after he called Jeremy Lin, the biggest acquisition of the Charlotte Hornets.
As reported by CBS Sports, after missing out on the playoffs last season, the Hornets made a handful of moves this off season, which resulted into the team acquiring the 2012 NBA phenomenon Jeremy Lin.
While head coach Steve Clifford said that Nicolas Batum will be the team's primary offensive weapon, His Airness believes that Lin is going to make the big difference.
Jordan said, "We just got Jeremy Lin, who I think is going to be our biggest acquisition. His penetration, his shooting capability, his point guard savvy, he can really pass the basketball, his energy about the game of basketball [is] something."
Although Clifford may be correct that Batum is the overall better player, you cannot deny that Jordan has a point. Lin is being projected to handle the team's ball handling duties as Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the team's primary handler, is currently nursing an injury.
In a report by Slam Online, although critics are saying that Lin had a disaster season with the Los Angeles Lakers last year, his points are saying otherwise as he put up pretty decent numbers of 11.2 points and 4.6 assists per game.
And it seems that the Jordan is correct as the Hornets got a glimpse of what Lin can provide this season. During a preseason game in China, the 27 year old point guard recorded 16 points, four assists and three rebounds in spectacular fashion. In the end, their efforts were rewarded as the Hornets beat the Clippers 106-94.
Furthermore, Jordan also praised the growing popularity of basketball in China, the Daily Times has learned. He said, "I think that it will continue to grow. I think that players will enjoy coming over and relating to their fans here."
