The Subaru WRX is the latest car to bite dust. The automatic transmission's dust that is as it becomes one of the latest cars to drop the manual transmission.

As reported by Boston, the 2016 Subaru WRX was different from previous WRXs of the past because, again, it's only offered in an automatic transmission, making a handful of old school driving enthusiasts groan with disappointment.

With America's increasing traffic that makes driving a manual a bit of a chore, Subaru made a decision to nix the clutch pedal because majority of the buying public has no use for a manual. In addition, Subaru wants its latest WRX to join the rest of the company's model line-up in setting all-time sales records.

However, despite slapping it with a Continuously Variable Transmission, it was reported that it's not half that bad..or maybe that's just the company trying to convince everyone that an automatic will be as fun to drive as a manual.

But don't fret. According to Guide Auto Web, it's big brother, the Subaru WRX STI, is still offered with a six-speed manual that can go 0 to 60 MPH in just five seconds, but of course, it would cost a little bit more as it has a base price of $37,995 compared to the WRX with $32,795

In a related report by The Chronicle Herald, the 2016 Subaru WRX still has some power to make it fun as it's equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that gives an output of 268 horsepower.

Appearance-wise, the rally inspired WRX is distinguished by a few add-ons from a hood scoop, a quartet of exhausts and a small spoiler in the rear. It also has a set of good-looking 17-inch alloy wheels.

If you're looking for the best and most fun to drive sports sedan, there are other options out there. But if you just want a nice blend of performance, everyday practicality even in hardcore traffic and ravishing good looks, the Subaru WRX is the car for you.
