Lamar Odom was reported to have undergone emergency surgeries.
According to E! News, the former NBA star had at least one procedure done today. The surgery was reported to have involved his chest; however, specifics regarding the treatment as to whether they were tied to heart or lung problems are unclear.
A source close to Lamar Odom said, "The doctors at Cedars have asked for no visitors" until he improves, but Khloe Kardashian remains by his side in the hospital room. The news comes shortly after the 35-year old former NBA star was reported to have been discharged from the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
Khloe said in a statement, "The past week has been incredibly difficult. I am so thankful to family, friends and fans, who have sent nothing but prayers and well wishes to Lamar. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone at Sunrise Hospital, including the amazing doctors and nurses for their kindness and diligent work."
She added, "Under their amazing care, incredible strides have been made. You can never be prepared for an experience like this, but without the outpouring of love and endless prayers that Lamar has received and the strength I was given from my loved ones, it would have been difficult to endure. Thank you for your continued support. God is great!!! XOXO, Khloé,"
NBC reported that Lamar Odom has still a long road to recovery as it was reported that he underwent not only one, but two surgeries done.
According to TMZ, these surgeries have put Lamar Odom in a fragile mental state and noted that at times, he's emotional or very upset.
Furthermore, Odom will likely need a kidney transplant because ever since being hospitalized, he has received daily kidney dialysis treatments. In addition, he is expected to need months of dialysis and physical therapy. However, patients with end stage kidney failure, dialysis does not improve the condition of the actual kidney.
With regards to the extent of his organ damages, Odom is also likely to have some level of brain damage from the stroke.
This news is just the latest incident in a long line of former NBA players struggling to adapt to life after basketball, which lead to the NBA players union into considering how they can help former players transition.
Khloe Kardashian, apart from being with Odom all throughout this ordeal, has also decided to call-off the divorce with her estranged husband.
