Wednesday's U.S presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney for the 2012 campaign was the first among three. Lehrar was critised for being passive and pathetic during the presidential debate as Mitt Romney seemed to have verbally slaughtered Obama during the debate.

Obama did not seem to be completely "there" as Romney seemed alert and reassured of himself. Obama exhibited lack of fluidity in his speech and even seemed a bit irritated at certain points.

Unsurprisingly, the trillion dollar deficit did not escape last night's discussion. Obama reiterated his understanding of the dire economic state of the country and stated that "Now, we all know that we've got to do more." Nonetheless, Romney bashed about what economists like, the co-founder of the Center for Economic Policy and Research, Dean Baker call a "bad policy and horrible politics." Economists are looking for a rejuvenated approach to politics.
