"Limitless" fans now have reason to rejoice because according to reports, the newly-lit series is going to have a full 22-episode season.
As reported by Cinema Blend, CBS announced that its new series "Limitless," will get the full-season treatment. Normally, when a TV series is still on its "testing the waters" phase, a network usually orders only 12 to 14 episodes. An additional order of 9 episodes indicates that either the show is going great or it has the full backing of its mother network.
Currently, CBS declared "Limitless" to be the number 2 series among its total viewers. It's been earning about 11.43 million total viewers each week and it's also doing pretty well within the 18 to 49-year old crowd. In addition to that, it has also crushed out in terms of DVR viewing. It was reported that the show increases by about 79 percent each week after the DVR audiences are factored in.
Despite its rather difficult timeslot of Tuesdays at 10, the show still managed to find a way to achieve great ratings, which prompted the network to order the additional 9 episodes. Look at this for comparison, just last year, ABC's "Forever" that also has a Tuesdays at 10 timeslot, got cancelled. Furthermore, "Persons of Interest" was shuffled off to mid-season after airing in the same time.
It's not hard to see why it's performing better than expected. As reported by Tech Times, the series serves as a follow-up to the successful 2011 movie of the same name, that has Bradley Cooper and Oscar-winning actor, Robert De Niro, as its lead casts.
Cooper, who serves as a producer for the series, also appeared on the series pilot and will reappear in the sixth episode. The actor, of course, will reprise his role as Senator Edward Morra and his character will offer the show's lead a reprieve from the side effects of the NZT drug.
According to CBS Entertainment Glen Geller, "We're excited how Limitless continues to evolve creatively each week and stand out with its unique style of storytelling."
In a related report by Yahoo! News, Cooper and Jake McDorman sat down for an interview to discuss the fascinating concept between the NZT drug. The two actors also spoke whether what would they do if they took the drug.
Apart from Cooper and McDorman, "Limitless" also stars Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Hill Harper and Jennifer Carpenter of "Dexter" fame.
Catch "Limitless" and guest star Bradley Cooper tonight when it airs 10:00 PM at CBS.
