Shonda Rhimes, who has an estimated net worth of $60 million, is currently making headlines after she opened up about her fears and how did she overcome them. Known to be the creator of "Scandal," "Grey's Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder," Rhimes initially ventured in writing handful of movies for Disney before landing an overall deal with ABC to create television shows.
Famous as television's most successful showrunner with a $60 million net worth, Shonda Rhimes has first landed a job in advertising. But today, she is already a household name, thanks to her top-rated ABC dramas. However, Rhimes admitted that she didn't expect to be famous since the entertainment industry is notoriously uncharitable to writers. And with the success of her company, ShondaLand, the force behind the aforementioned series, she skyrocketed into a highly notable showrunner. In her latest memoir titled, "Year of Yes," she opened up about balancing her ambition with her life behind the scenes.
"My oldest sister said to me, 'You never say yes to anything,'" Rhimes said, as per NPR. "And by that she meant I never accept any invitations. I never go anywhere. I never do anything. All I did was go to work and come home. And she was right. My life had gotten really small. Once I sort of realized that she was right, I was going to say yes to all the things that scared me, that made me nervous that freaked me out, that made me think I'm going to look foolish doing it. Anything that took me out of my comfort zone I was going to do it, if asked to do it."
When Shonda Rhimes, who has a net worth of $60 million, was asked to elaborate on how her life had gotten small, she admitted that she has always been an introverted person and found the fame that came with her television success to be intimidating.
"I've always been an introverted person, she added. "And I think ... the experience of the explosion of those shows and the notoriety or the fame that came with it was very daunting for me. And you sort of curl in on yourself a little bit, and your world becomes a little bit smaller and tighter."
While Shonda Rhimes has an astonishing $60 million net worth, she has revealed that she struggled from her most-kept painful secret. According to ABC News, she admitted that her three hit ABC shows, her workaholic tendencies and her panic attack-inducing shyness have all left her secretly miserable. But now, she has finally opened up about the biggest changes in her life, from losing more than 100 pounds to overcoming her fears to going for new opportunities.
"In writing the book, the honesty that came out of that was so comfortable," Rhimes said. "It was part of not needing to hide. I was not afraid of anything. I no longer cared what anybody thought about me."
With Shonda Rhimes' exclusive tell-all that she detailed in her new book, "Year of Yes," out on Nov. 10, her $60 million net worth as listed by Celebrity Net Worth will definitely increase.
