Intelligence Experts: 'ISIS May Have Communicated Through Playstation 4 to Recruit and Plan The Deadly Paris Attacks'

Sony's PlayStation is one of the most favorite gaming consoles in the world. Since it was first introduced in Japan in 1994, several updated versions were released and in 2013, the Playstation 4, which is the latest edition, hit the market.
Although everyone knows that this gadget is for gaming, after the terror attacks in Paris on Friday the 13th, the console is now being considered as the main communication tool used in the tragedy according to DailyMail. Intelligence experts reported that they think the Jihadist extremist militant group relied on the popular gaming console to contact one another and recruit members. The officials also alleged that the planning of the massacre may have also been discussed through it.
Forbes also reported that the series of raids in Brussels yielded at least one Playstation 4. Thus, it seems that this was how the game console was linked to the crime. The unit is now considered as evidence and has been sealed.
Moreover, Jan Jambon, the Belgian Minister of Home Affairs, cautioned that the use of Sony's gaming gadget is becoming alarmingly popular among the web of terrorists. He added that experts think, the ISIS used the device as the main communication channel in carrying out the attacks around Paris on Friday night.
Jambon also revealed that the reason why the terrorists chose Playstation 4 to exchange information within their group was the fact that it is almost untraceable.
"The thing that keeps me awake at night is the guy behind his computer, looking for messages from the Islamic State and other hate preachers. PlayStation 4 is even more difficult to keep track of than WhatsApp," the minister said.
Further, while it is an unlikely selection, from the extremists' perspective, the gadget is their safest and most effective route for sending and receiving messages. Authorities are able to track and hear communications via telephone lines, mobile phones, and internet but this is not possible with PS4's IP-based voice communication because the users are directly linked to one another.
Most of the gaming consoles today have built-in communication device. Players can send messages or talk with one another in real-time. With this, it is easy to see why it is so hard to track suspicious discussions. And this is even harder because more games with communication features are being introduced everyday.
As stated on WorldTribune, security experts concluded that while gadgets for gaming are not categorized as high-tech machines, the methods used for its communication feature is far more difficult to detect or supervise compared to encrypted emails, phone calls, or texts.
Meanwhile, the bloodbath in Paris resulted to the death of 129 people and over 352 sustained various injuries. A Hundred is in critical condition so the tally of deaths can still possibly rise.
