On Tuesday, a bombing incident shook Yola, the northeastern part of Nigeria. After the blast, 32 people were confirmed to have died in the terror attack. There were also those who were hurt in the blast and the current headcount is 80. Alhaji Sa'ad Bello of the National Emergency Management Agency or NEMA also confirmed this number of casualties to AP.

Moreover, according to Othman Abubakar, the Deputy Superintendent and spokesman of the Adamawa state police, the majority of the victims were passersby and vendors since the scene of the attack is a busy market that is near a mosque and a restaurant.

It was reported that the attack happened around 8:20 pm; however, it's not clear if the explosion resulted from a planted explosive device or if there had been a suicide bomber.

For this act of terrorism, the people are putting the blame on Boko Haram. Authorities also pointed out that there are indications that it was the notorious group that's responsible for the deadly explosion.

Also, the extremist group is being suspected because they have been continuously bombing the region in the recent months. They stopped the attacks three weeks ago, but it seems that they are back to spread terror among the citizens.

One article from BBC explained what Boko Haram is, which is a word that means "Western education is forbidden" in English. As its name suggests, the group which was founded in 2002, is against the teachings of the West.

After seven years of merely protesting, in 2009, the group started to get violent and even acquired arms. Since then, they took responsibility of ruthless and senseless killings around the city.

In any case, it was ironic that Tuesday's strike came after President Muhammad Buhari made an announcement that the government is very close to toppling the Boko Haram and called on the soldiers to remain vigilant to stop the extremists from killing people and carrying out assaults.

Buhari ordered his army to stomp out the rebels and set a deadline to complete the mission. The President wants the rebels wiped out by December.

The military quickly got into action and this resulted in taking back the territories which Boko Haram forcibly took away from them in the previous fights. After losing to the government fighters, the rebels focused on bombing crowded places like mosques, bus stations, villages and markets.

Meanwhile, President Buhari extended his condolences to the victims and pledged to eradicate terrorists in their land through a series of tweets.

"The enemies of humanity will never win. Hand in hand, we will rid our land of terrorism. May God rest the souls of the dead, heal the injured, and comfort the bereaved," President Buhari tweeted.
