How To Nail An Online Job Interview

Because of how the internet is growing and how it helps people do their everyday tasks, online job interviews are now getting popular. According to Forbes, a recent survey by workforce consulting firm Right Management reported, "6 in 10 recruiters currently incorporate video into the interview process." This data only shows how most employers are now into the flow of using the internet as an avenue to filter out their candidates before inviting them to be a part of their company.
Some people might think that online job interviews and the traditional face-to-face ones are similar. But the thing is, questions asked during both process might be the same but the entire experience is not. That's why one must understand that preparations for both processes are also different.
Here are some ideas on how an interviewee can nail an online job interview:
Make sure to use a reliable internet connection
Internet connection is one of the most important factors in online job interview. That's why it is crucial that an interviewee's internet connection is fast and reliable. "You certainly don't want to be cut off mid-sentence in an interview for a job you're dying to get," as stated in the online blog, SQ Wiggle. Slow internet connection indeed can only be a distracton in the process.
Look at the camera and not the screen
During the online interview proper, it is tempting to look at the unit's screen especially if it shows one's image and that of the interviewer. But one should understand that when an interviewee looks at the screen instead of the camera, he or she will appear to the employer as if looking away from him instead. So, focus on the camera. By doing so, one is making an "eye contact" with the interviewer. That gesture will create a good positive impression.
Make sure one is dressed appropriately
Some people might think that because this is an online interview, one doesn't have to wear a professional outfit anymore. But, that's not true. It is still better if one will choose the appropriate outfit perfect for the interview. Wearing the latter is perfect to boost one's self confidence to stay tuned up for the process. At the same time the gesture also shows commitment that can be used to impress interviewers, as shared by the online career advisor, Career Professor.
Online job interview can also be stressful and sometimes difficult to handle. But, as aspirants, follow these tips; they would surely be one step closer in their job search success.
