Electronic Arts is taking you to a ride on the "Star Wars" hype train with release of "Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes" for mobile.
According to The Star, the new official "Star Wars" game from Electronic Arts combines iconic characters with RPG complexity and is now available in both the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
EA executive producer John Salera said, "We've created a game for Star Wars and RPG fans where you can mix and match your favorite characters from across all the films and TV shows, creating squads with heroes from both the light and dark sides," the Telegraph Times has learned.
Salera added, "The game is simple to control but has incredible depth and breadth. You can strategize on which characters complement each other most, then make your custom teams more powerful with new gear and loot you win from battles."
As noted, the objective of the new game is to build a team capable of completing potentially any intergalactic task.
Users can travel throughout the known "Star Wars" universe in order to find and recruit a myriad of characters from the existing franchise, among them are Luke Skywalker and Darth Maul.
But if you want to test the characters and their strategy even before bringing them to the team, you have the option to play PVP mode and battle against other players.
To begin the game, the players start by completing Light Side battles, which will unlock access to Dark Side battles as they collect Dark Side characters and level up in the game.
In a related review of the game by Venture Beat, Electronic Arts' latest "Star Wars" game was described as "simple-but-confident" character battler. The site noted that the publishers emphasized on collecting characters and powering them up, rather than the actual battle.
"Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes" was likened to "Marvel: Avengers Alliance" due to the similar nature of both games. Also, the game's mechanics was noted as not requiring deep strategy, but can still be enjoyable to play.
Expect to see a lot of "Star Wars" related merchandise in the coming weeks as the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" release looms.
From games, toys and even book novel tie-ins. The movie series has become one of the most successful franchises in history, so expect every company to want to get a piece of the pie. And with the hype comes quality issues, so don't expect every "Star Wars" product to be top notch.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is set to be released on Dec. 16, 2015. Also, check out the gameplay of the title below.
