How does a mom come to grips with the horror to walk in the house and find her children stabbed, lying in a pool of blood and the alleged killer still alive with a kitchen knife beside ?

Marina Krim, mother to three children, aged 2, 3, and 6, walked into an unimaginable scene Thursday evening at about 5:30pm in the family's luxury Manhattan apartment when she returned home with her middle child, 3- year-old, Nessie to find two of her children 2- year- old son, Leo, and 6- year- old daughter, Lucia (Lulu), stabbed multiple times lying in a pool of blood in bathtub at their luxury Manhattan apartment. Their 50-year-old nanny,Yoselyn Ortega was lying on the bathroom floor (a kitchen knife nearby) with her wrists and throat cut.

"We believe now that the nanny began stabbing herself ... as the mother entered the bathroom," New York Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told reporters at a news conference Friday.

Marina's screams caused neighbors to call 911 and according to reports, she clung to the 3-year-old, hysterical.

The two stabbed children, Lucia 6, and Leo, 2 reportedly were taken to New York's Roosevelt Hospital on Thursday night, eventually were pronounced dead while their mother was treated for trauma in the same hospital.

The children's father, Kevin Krim, a general manager of digital media with CNBC was away on a business trip at the time and police informed him of the deaths when he landed at the airport.

Even just hours before she discovered the horrific murders Marina,36, who had kept up a steady stream of blog postings and photographs on LiveJournal, "Life with the Little Krim Kids" about her children had expressed her love and adoration of her youngest one: "Leo speaks in the most adorable way possible." As of Friday, the blog had been removed.

It is unknown what caused Yoselyn Ortega to attack the two children because the Krim's family were thought to have been very close to the nanny, Marina Krim posted in one of her blog post about travelling to the Dominican Republic "It was wonderful. And we met Josie's amazing family! The Dominican Republic is a wonderful country!!"

The police were looking into Ortega's history who had worked for the Krim's family for two years on a referral from another family and detectives were searching her home where she lives with her 17-year-old son in Washington Heights, a working-class neighborhood.

Ortega, a naturalized American citizen from the Dominican Republic, is under police custody but has not been formally charged. She remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma for her self-inflicted knife wounds.

The murders have stunned the nation and humanity in general, no words can describe the pain of the parents at such a tragic loss. It is mystifying what made the nanny to commit such a heinous crime? how can someone go so insanely wrong.....to commit a gut-wrenching murder.

On the other hand, the two dead children deserve justice for their undeserving death and for the family at their irreplaceable loss.

R.I.P. Lucia and Leo.
