Australian shoppers are really embracing discount supermarket chains as recent survey revealed that many consumers from Australia are opting for discount supermarkets to save costs, according to Canstar Blue research.
The survey questioned three thousand Australians, majority of the respondents said they really love to shop at ALDI and they are hoping that more similar shops would eventually open in the country as they believe that these type of stores are cost saver.
Survey found out that 85 percent of the respondents believed that ALDI's presence is good for the consumers in Australia and they want to see more discount shops. While 74 percent of them said they "would like to see another supermarket chain like ALDI" in the country soon.
"Consumers have had a taste for cutting grocery costs and now they're hungry for more," Head of the research team, Megan Doyle explained, adding, "ALDI has completely changed the supermarket landscape and for many people there will be no going back."
In addition to the survey, the research discovered that location is really one of the contributing factor as 59 percent of the adults agreed that they would buy at a discount store if it is near in their residence.
"Even those who don't shop at ALDI can benefit from its presence because of the way other supermarkets are reacting to the challenge. It's helping to make us all a bit more price-conscious when we get to the checkout," Doyle concluded.
The latest survey only showed that there are a lot of consumers searching for a better value. There are a lot of household shoppers willing to switch to ALDI or any similar supermarkets just to cut costs.
"The ALDI proposition is particularly appealing to young couples and families at a time in life when they are planning and making some of their biggest financial commitments, so the prospect of cutting grocery costs is a major draw," Doyle said.
In the next 12 months, ALDI shop is expected to open more 80 supermarkets worldwide, indicating that the shop is sought after by many shoppers.
