In today's fast paced world, it's sometimes a wonder that the busy professional still has time to juggle things outside work. However, it is no excuse to ignore food and eating healthy is no joke.
Maybe you're thinking it takes too much work to go on a diet and it stresses you out just thinking about it. This article isn't telling you to go on a diet. Here are, instead, three things to consider for you to start eating healthy.
1. Eat Clean - Tons of food right now are stuffed with preservatives to prolong shelf life. So, it pays to know where your food comes from. Clean eating means knowing your food's origin, how it's transported to you and how it's made. Once you find out that what you have in your fridge right now are mostly preserves and artificial, you may want to start switching to a more natural route. Eat whole foods that have undergone minimal or no processing. Start looking at fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, free-range meat, eggs, whole grains and dairy.
2. Snack Smartly - We're all guilty of it. Snacks are a treat! But one can over-eat on unhealthy food choices. Similar to eating cleanly, avoid quick snack foods that are filled with sugar, bad carbs and high cholesterol. Once you get in the habit of eating healthy snacks, you'll get used to it. You can have fruits in between meals instead. Also, try and cut out sugary drinks. This will not only control your weight, it also reduces the risk of diabetes and other health diseases.
3. Portion Control - Controlling food intake is important. Today's food portions right now are getting larger and larger. Remember that it's okay to not finish the entire thing on your plate. If you already feel full half-way, then you may want to stop eating. Eat slow. Once you determine your food limit, then you have already tailored your portion size.
If you can do these three things listed online, congratulations! You're on your way to becoming healthy.
