After five months of their hiatus announcement, a source who are close to the boys revealed that the four will go on their separate ways, as reported by US Weekly on Wednesday. Could this really be the end of One Direction?

Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne have all took to their social media accounts and as well as interviews to promise their fans that they will not be like Zayn Malik, who exited the boy band life in March of 2015. Horan bluntly denied break up rumors, telling Entertainment Tonight that they are not breaking up, but taking the time off to see their friends and family and reflect on what they've done over the last few years. Meanwhile, Styles mentioned that he aims to travel during this break. He also stated that he thinks it is an important matter for them to have a break.

"Obviously it would be naive of us to think that people aren't going to read into that in a ton of different ways, but we're just gonna take a little break next year," Styles told ET's Samantha Harris during an exclusive interview.

But, according to the source, the foursome have decided not to renew their recording contract for the reasons that they are exhausted and they each have a desire for individual careers.

There is another source who disclosed that the split doesn't necessarily mean that they all would detach themselves from music which is what brought them together, kicking things off with Payne having shown interest for song writing and production, while the first insider said that Styles is looking toward launching a career in acting and singing. Tomlison and stylist friend Briana Jungwirth are expecting a child, so the source says that he will spend his break being busy as a first-time father.
