U.S. Citizens Do Not Trust Washington Anymore – Poll Says

A recent national survey revealed that the voting public no longer trusts the federal government. With only less than a month remaining before the Democrats and the Republicans choose their standard bearer, the U.S. voters' confidence in the government's ability to solve the most pressing problems of the country is ominous.
The survey was conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research in December. More than 6 in 10 respondents of the survey said they only have slight confidence or none at all when asked if they think the government can solve the problems facing the country in 2016.
It appears that the trend that manifested about two years ago has worsened. In November 2013, a poll conducted by CNN and ORC International showed similar results. That survey revealed that Americans doubted President Obama's ability to steer the nation correctly.
Reuters reported at that time that 53 percent of respondents believed President Obama was not trustworthy. That was the first time that a survey discovered a majority of respondents questioning the integrity of the sitting president.
In the previous week of that survey, only 40 percent said that Obama is dishonest. The president's reputation has steadily dipped since June of 2013. About 53 percent of those respondents also said Obama is not a decisive and strong leader.
The current survey showed that U.S. voters are more focused on domestic affairs and the economy. Almost half of the respondents mentioned immigration and foreign policy matters as their concerns.
The result of the present survey may worry the candidates who are trying to get to the place of Obama. There is widespread skepticism regarding the ability of the U.S. government to bring solutions to the problems that plague the nation, considering that there is really no considerable difference in the way the two warring parties plan to attack these problems.
