Are you one of those who are looking to build/start a career in your 20's? If yes, then Forbes has come up with a list for you to keep in mind. The following are some of them.

Always be grateful.

As the saying goes, "Do unto others what you want others to do unto you." This is the same when trying to build a career. No matter how small that act might be, always take the time to thank the person. It doesn't matter if it's just a simple note of thanks, a long e-mail, a gift of any size, a handwritten card, a text or others. This is applicable not only in your career but in any aspect of your life, in general. It should be a way of living.

Remember this, too, shall pass.

Nothing in life is permanent. Take note of that. So if you are living a wealthy and luxurious life, think that it too shall pass. If you are in the brink of poverty, remember that this, too, shall pass. Be thankful for the small and big things you achieve in life. Be grateful when things are good. Be thankful, still, when they are not. The situation you are in right now will not last your lifetime, especially if you do something with it. Be grateful. Period.

Maintain your professional reputation.

If you have had worked in the past, maintain a connection with those people. Do not burn bridges just because you had a terrible experience with that person. You'll never know; you might meet them in the future. In fact, it is best to "continue cultivating your past relationships with colleagues." Don't badmouth other people even if they have badmouthed you. Always think of the better good - of the positive side. The earlier you practice this, the better.

Surround yourself with positive people.

Do not allow yourself to be influenced by people who would bring you down. Keep a healthy relationship with people who have been there for you through thick and thin. Remember that "anyone else can be a distraction at best and an energy drain at worst." So invest more time with people who will nurture you.

Mistakes can be gifts.

Mistakes are stepping stones. You always learn something from your mistakes, whether a learning experience or a happy accident. As the old adage goes, "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Just try not to make the same one twice."
