Canon has just recently unveiled its latest high tech camera, the EOS 1D X Mark II. This is the camera company's flagship DSLR model that comes with the latest 20.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor equipped with Dual Pixel Autofocus.
The camera's dual pixel AF simply means that every pixel impressed on the image sensor consists of two halves: one half slightly faces the right and the other half slightly faces the left. In that way, every pixel will not only capture the scene, but it will also provide highly accurate phase-detect autofocus when the Live View mode is used.
The EOS 1D X Mark II is Canon's first update of the high-end shooter 1D X which was originally unveiled in 2011. This latest upgrade has higher and more attractive specs that the camera company has been developing in the past four years.
The camera's body has not changed dramatically. It bears a striking resemblance to its predecessor. However, its inner parts now contain a wealth of high-tech and advanced features. Apart from its 20.2 megapixel sensor, it offers an ISO range of 100 to 51,200 and an expanded sensitivity of up to a maximum 409,600.
This high-tech camera is capable of shooting up to 14 frames per second with autofocus on and 16 fps without AF. Its predecessor only has a maximum of 12 fps. It can also capture and record moving images up to 60 fps.
The camera is equipped with a 3.2 inch LCD touchscreen which was upgraded considerably by Canon to a much higher-resolution of 1.62 million dot screen. However, its use is only limited to selecting autofocus when using the Live View mode. The touchscreen is not capable of swiping through images in playback mode, or selecting menu items.
With the camera's 360,000-pixel metering sensor and its Intelligent Tracking System, it can read light and color intensities, make metering recommendations and help the AF system follow moving objects accurately.
